Jinhua Fucha from Jingyang, Shaanxi, is a special variety of black tea. During its production process, a fungus known as “golden flowers” naturally develops, hence its name. Though originally from Anhua, it is traditionally attributed to merchants from Jingyang, Shaanxi, hence its alternative name Jingyang Fucha. The “golden flowers”—Coniophora sinensis—alter the tea's flavour profile, reducing bitterness and astringency while imparting a mellow richness. They also generate aromatic notes and are even reputed to benefit digestive health.
